Slipstream, Breakneck and Clash ruin the fun.

Laser Wars

DC Fusion’s break in to Estacado’s mansion, and the ensuing fight, gave the Police the excuse they needed to raid the place. They arrested most of the mobsters and discovered exactly what was going on underground, and they are all baffled.

Despite this setback, all out war has broken out between Estacado’s gangs and those that work for Blackguard. Worse, they seem to both have upgraded their weaponry to laser weapons.

Also two headsets and laser rifle taken to another part of the company to break down and try and workout.

Taichitu argues that the team can’t be distracted by stopping the fights, and should concentrate on removing the lasers from circulation. While some of the team feel there is sense here, both Tesla and Ent think that it is the least heroic thing ever said by anyone in the team, and promptly ignore it.

Someone (Cobalt?) goes to see the PCTF, who explain that all of the mobsters got released by a lawyer due to lack of evidence, however, the person who would probably be the easiest to spring, the scientist, was not.
Then the evidence all disappeared, no one can understand it, locked room mystery.

Now with multiple leads, the team decide that they should first visit the Technocrat before heading out of town. Technocrat reveals that the red lasers are indeed based on his design, but he is not making them. He doesn’t do bulk orders. The team try and get more out of him, but he refuses. Unless they do him a favour. Seems his old bodyguard, Maverick has been doing deals with someone else, and he thinks an incident with him and the Mighty Union a few weeks ago was the tipping point. He wants the team to investigate who the person helping Maverick is and get him a name.

Against Ent’s wishes they agree, delay the trip to the ware house even further and head off to the Paladin Enterprises building where the fight occurred.

Unhappy with the time wasted, and feeling this is turning into a wild goose chase, Ent decides to stay in Dominion City and help break up gang fights. The other four pile into the limo and head out of town and toward Kilmarnock.

Tectonic is immediately on the phone, and is informing someone of DC Fusion’s interference, when suddenly the other half of the conversation comes from behind the captured two, and the door to the bathroom opens, and out steps Estacado, carrying on the conversation as if nothing happened.

Halbech completely collapses under the scandal. The company’s shares plummet and eventually start getting snapped up by rivals. Both Paladin Enterprises and Obsidian Weaponry take some parts, but the majority was surprisingly taken by Corvin Industries. Mark reveals that Masterson Pharmaceutical had tried to get some, partly to help with their medical laser research, and also so they had a legal claim on all the information Tai had brought them on the computer.

In the end, despite this being a great day for the team’s achievements, it’s not gone so well on the publicity front, as Mighty Union and The Pantheon seem to have

Army of the Future

The Army are showing off their new drones, built from the lessons learnt from White Knight armour and new AI routines to a bunch of reporters, Senators and military enthusiastic civilians. Link and Education send Half-Life, Soyuz. Xeo, along with new recruit Black Katana to get a feeling for her. Which is lucky because JADIS takes over the various drones and starts attacking the gathered crowd.

While the Mighty Union do manage to defeat the robot army, there is a huge cost to civilian life, with about ninety percent of attendees killed. The team take it as a horrible defeat, and the city goes into mourning, but the press do politely point out that without the Union the Robot army would have got free and who knows what would have happened.

Shadows of Daylight

It’s been two weeks since the formation of DC Fusion and their success of shutting down a Surge lab. The PR team has properly started the ball rolling, and DC Fusion started to gain some traction. Nothing major though. The PCTF did give them a shout out in a press conference, minor column inches, but still.

Oh and Mighty Union had a big fight with some robots and the Pantheon fought some of White Noise’s crew.

The team themselves haven’t done a great deal, though secretly they did put Tesla through cold turkey after his massive overdose of Surge.

A meeting with Mark is arranged at Fraktion’s apartment in order to figure out the next steps. While Ent think they should go after more drug dealers, feeling that they can carve a niche out here, Tesla, Fraktion and Mark feel they need a bold statement. Tai-Jitu feels they should show caution for now, and agrees with Ent.

However, with no leads they go out on patrol, and Tesla gets what he’s looking for, as he finds a bank being robbed in the middle of the night. More specifically he finds a smashed hole in the wall of one. Tai-jitu, being the only one capable, sneaks in and is shocked to find Tritan behind the break-in. Realising they are outclassed he hides from the behemoth.

However, as he exits the bank Tesla doesn’t have the same realisation and immediately slams into Tritan. Not doing a great deal.

Crossing Blades
Another Bank Job

Six guys with very hi-tech weaponry walked into the ___ Bank in order to rob it. Luckily for the bank, its employees and patrons, Xeo of the Mighty Union as well as Crimson Blade and new Power Black Katana were also inside. Though the bank suffered some damage, four of the five bank robbers were captured by the PCTF, the fifth escaping when an unknown flying accomplice carried him off. According to the PCTF the other four claim to have no knowledge of this other individual, but eye witnesses claim it to be suited criminal Maverick.

Some of the hostages are also claiming there was a sixth man in the crew, but there doesn’t seem to be any sign of him, and the PCTF also deny the claim.

After the fight, Crimson Blade scarpers before anything can happen, but Black Katana and Xeo stay and speak to Lt Mitchell. During the conversation Katana makes it obvious that she’s literally just arrived in town and has nowhere to stay. Afterwards Xeo invited her back to the mansion. After speaking to a rather nervous Link, who asked her if her ‘work in the business sector’ ever involved Corvin, which she denied. They agreed that she might be Mighty Union material, but there was still a lot to be decided. But as she was new to the city Link offered her the chance to stay in the Mansion, though Captain Education made sure she couldn’t see the outside world.

Poppy clearly wasn’t very happy with Xeo, having it been incredibly obvious who he really was. She’d long held the belief that her ice wielding boyfriend was secretly Deep Freeze, not some mamby pamby superhero who doesn’t earn any money. After a heated argument, and Xeo realising what she really thought, he ended it.

Surge of Power

Part 1 – The Club
The whole city has been celebrating for 24 hours after the Mighty Union managed to stop the demon invasion. The place that party is still going the strongest is the Sakai Club, one of Dominion City’s premier nightspots. Drink is flowing, and if you look in the right place, so are drugs.

However, the drugs were about to become exceptionally more obvious. Practical jokes were being played on other clubbers, with drinks being poured over them, almost out of nowhere.
In the main bar, the temperature started to raise with no real reasoning. More obviously though, in the middle of the dance floor, a small girl threw a male across the room when he started to harass her. She didn’t seem to notice and just kept dancing.
When the bouncers tried to deal with her they too were thrown.

Things could have really gotten out of hand if it wasn’t for five other attendees that night. Fraktion, a local celebrity for parkour and promoter for Pro-Motion, took to the dance floor and tried to distract the girl so no one else would get hurt, and hopefully allow the bouncers a more successful attempt at subduing her.
Kwan Da-Zhi spotted the heat seemed to be rising off a particular guy in the bar, and the heat was so bad you could actually see heat haze now, and decided to get his friend out of there before anything bad could happen.
Looking over the dance floor Tom Franklin, like Kwan, realised what was brewing and decided to get his friends out of there before anything kicked off.
Ross Parker just managed to catch a glimpse of a man moving at incredible speed, and was the one responsible for the practical jokes. Without revealing his powers he tried to stop him, but failed. He did, however, manage to make the speedster obvious giving Franklin the chance to implant a suggestion into the clubber’s mind to ‘run away’.
Jason Sparrow, realising what was about to kick off, snuck outside to the car to get his gear and change into Tesla, a relative newcomer on DC’s superhero scene.

As Kwan was getting his friend out, people started passing out and small fires started igniting around the man who didn’t seem in control. In fact he was so out of control he screamed and a jet of fire lanced out across the entire club. Kwan armoured up as Taijitu and set about trying to take him down.

The club quickly emptied apart from the combatants, but the speedster returned. However, the now transformed Ent (Sparrow using his earlier failure against the speedster to cover his transformation into his alternate identity) was able to quickly take him down. It became clear to all those involved that the three people causing the problems didn’t seem to be of the right mind.

Taijitu, with the help of Franklin, took down the out of control flamer. Back on the dance floor, it took the combined might of Fraktion, Ent and Tesla to take down the super strength girl. Realising they were being filmed, and out of context the footage of the three of them whaling on a small woman would look bad, Fraktion also managed to distract the patron with their camera phone.

With the three defeated the five Powers left the club – only Tesla and Fraktion still in fully powered mode – only to find the entirety of the club’s patrons were now lining the pavement. The two of them received applause, and both soaked it up. However, the police that were holding the crowd back wanted words with the two heroes, both tried to get away. For Tesla he simply flew off, but Fraktion had to sneak through the crowd and failed miserably. However, after Fraktion was brought to one of the cars for questioning, along with Franklin (as a medic), and Tesla returned. The five were interviewed, three released, though Ent and Taichitu were taken down town.

Part 2 – The Investigation
Ent and Taichitu contacted the other three Powers they met the night before, asking for a meeting. Ent suggested that the five of them seemed to work well together and that maybe they should be team-up to try and put a stop to the influx of Surge that was hitting the city, and responsible for last night. All seemed up for it, except Fraktion who thought he better check in with the company he worked for Pro-motion, but agreed to help for now, because it had to be good publicity, right?
Splitting up, Kwan Da-Zhi and Sparrow went to the Student Union, figuring that you could probably find a dealer there, but Sparrow got distracted when he was questioning a bunch of girls and decided to ‘just blend in’.

Fraktion and Franklin headed to Fraktion’s old neighbourhood, which is pretty dodgy and Fraktion was sure they could find someone easily.

Parker went to question the three Surged from last night, starting with the female who became super strong. After some coaxing, flirting and promise of more drugs, she revealed she bought hers in the Sakai Club, so he set off there.

Da-Zhi found a dealer round about the same time Sparrow talked the girl in his sights to buy some drugs. She only wanted ecstasy, but Sparrow managed to buy a couple of tabs of Surge, and then the two went back to her place. Da-Zhi, now as Taichitu, jumped the dealer shortly afterwards who revealed he worked for the 3rd Street Saints.

Fraktion and Franklin found the big street dealers in his old neighbourhood, who happened to be his old crew, Breaking Muse who were less happy to see him. After a quick shapechange, the two had a pretty disastrous attempt at a deal as Breaking Muse saw right through the deception and figured them for Narcs and left them shot in the street. Luckily Fraktion was able to get the both out of there.

Meanwhile, back at the Sakai Club, Parker, approached the owner, McAllister, with the pretence of organising a drug deal. Parker pretended he was a rich kid organising an out of town rave, and needed some Surge. $10,000 worth of Surge. McAllister was obviously interested and the two set up a meeting the next night.

Realising they had a massive lead, he contacted the rest so they could surveil McAllister and find out where he was going to get the large amount of Surge. The team met up in a cafe near Sakai, and laid out what they knew. All noted Sparrow looked worse for wear, who revealed he’d got laid with the girl from the Union, but in the process of ‘fitting in’ had taken Surge. They agree to stakeout McAllister and the barman who sold the drugs to see where they go for such a large amount of Surge.

Part 3 – The Arrest and the Team Name
With everyone else knackered, and Franklin shot up, Fraktion and Da-Zhi take the first shift. Apart from following each of them home, they don’t see anything, and at 8am they ring Sparrow and Parker to relieve them.

Tesla follows the barman, but it becomes pretty obvious pretty quickly that he just sells stuff over the bar.

Meanwhile at McAllister’s quite up-market home, Parker is trying to find a suitable place to watch from, since Fraktion took his limo with him. Parker tries to break into one of the neighbour’s cars, just to sit in, but sets off the alarm. He quickly moves on and finds a house empty, as the home owners have gone away, and he hides in the bushes. However, the police turn up as it appears someone spotted him by the car. He moves to sit on the lawn to not attract attention but the police come up and speak to him, and take him into questioning.

He’s quickly released, but by the time Tesla get’s to McAllister he’s already gone out. So they all head to Fraktion’s apartment to figure out what to do next.

With the aim to track McAllister failing the team come to slow realisation that they actually have to go to the drug deal. However, Fraktion has arranged for Phil Lawman from Legal and Mark from Marketing to come as well.

Part 4 – The Drug Deal
Mark from Marketing turns up. Tech boys have retrieved the damaged vid, edited into an awesome montage, but are sitting on it thanks to:
They’re second page news because of story about the Mighty Union fighting Maverick. Deciding to hold onto it, add more footage and release when they have a big story, the team reluctantly agree to meet with McAllister for the deal. They go early to the rendezvous point and several locations for their stakeout, as well as some cameras.

Part 5 – Paying a visit to Fraktion’s old crew
Moans only footage from last night’s fight is shody camera phone through window, what happened to them filming. Still got some choice shots into the montage. With the drug bust a less than successful job, the team comes up with a new plan to go ‘have a word’ with Fraktion’s old crew, since they were dealing.

Part 6 – Meet in the Park

Part 7 – The warehouse

Plan Hate

It has been a couple of months since the Mighty Union stopped JANIS’ plan and, as far as they’re concerned, completely and utterly averted the terrible future they saw in the mindlink with their future selves. Psy-man has left and started Apollo Tech. The rest of the team have been working stopping disasters and fighting villains, but nothing major to really distract them. On the lighter side the nullifier in the base now covers all public areas, which has greatly improved Half-Life’s living conditions, and his body odour.

Today is like the majority of days since their fight against the robots, everyone has left to their own devices and they get to have a quiet evening. Xeo and Poppy are watching TV, Magnitude is hanging out with his brother, Khord is performing at a gig, Half-Life is bumming around the mansion not having to where his containment suit.

Suddenly on the TV, the programme Xeo and Poppy are watching is interrupted by the news. A special report as rioting has broken out across the city with no real explanation. As Xeo watches this, there’s a guy in the background who’s acting like a prat because he’s got on television. Without warning the reporter turns round and belts him one and doesn’t let up.

Poppy suddenly flips out at him, shouting at him about keeping secrets, and she knows he’s been up to stuff. At Khord’s show, the moshpit turns ugly, Magnitude’s brother starts screaming at him that his being in the wheelchair is all his fault. At the mansion Link is monitoring the riots and wants to dispatch Half-Life to investigate. He contacts Magnitude and to help, meanwhile Xeo and Khord gets in touch to find out what is going on.

The three of them

Khord, Xeo, Magnitude and a new hero struggle against demons.

Freezing the water.

Boosting the Booster

It had been a quiet few months since the Union had put a stop to rampaging robots. Due to the upcoming arrival of his child, Psyman has retired, and with the help of Capt Education and Link has set up Apollo Tech. Khord has been tracking down demons that escaped, though he has banished some back to Hell, many still roam free.

Within the rest of the Union themselves, they’ve mostly been responding to minor threats, nothing has needed the full team for quite some time. It is from one of these missions that Xeo and Magnitude are returning from on the Jet when Link contacts them with another task. An experimental booster rocket is being transported into the city and he’d feel better with some Union eyes on it, just to be on the safe side.

Rise of the Robots

As the Mighty Union celebrate the completion of their jet one member is missing, Link, who is even more obvious as he was one of the team that built it. After the brief celebration and most of the team start going back to their normal lives, Link calls those that are left to the briefing room as he has something that he wants them to look into, he’s also extremely pleased that Psyman is one of them as he was on the original mission.

Last night Quantum Labs’ Kansas lab had a break in that seemed strangely similar to the one that the team investigated when it first formed. Looking into it Paladin Enterprises had also been broken into earlier in the week, as had other companies dealing in similar fields such as Halbech over the last three weeks.
